MIDDLETOWN, NY - A five-year-old Montgomery girl was awarded a landmark settlement as compensation for serious injuries she suffered on June 28, 2003, when her neighbor's dog attacked her. The dog bit the girl in the face, causing permanent scars. The insurance company refused all settlement offers until the day of trial, when the case was settled before jury selection. According to New York Verdictsearch, the settlement was the largest for a dog bite to a child in Orange County since 1994. "Our investigation proved that this dog had bitten other children in the Past", said Gregory Sobo, of Sobo & Sobo, LLP.
