MIDDLETOWN, NY - A South Fallsburg woman was awarded the entire insurance policy as compensation for serious injuries she suffered to her lower back as a result of an August 29, 2002 car accident in the Town of Thompson. The accident caused a herniated disc in her lumbar spine. The insurance company refused all settlement offers, claiming that the injuries were caused by arthritis and not the accident. After an arbitration proceeding, the referee determined that the car accident caused the herniated disc. On August 3, 2005, he awarded the woman $150,000. "We make sure we understand how each client is affected by his or her injury", said Gregory Sobo. 22 NYCRR 1200.1 requirement:
