2 car accident in New York injures 3

A serious crash in southern New York sent three people to the hospital, two of whom were in serious condition, according to reports. The car accident took place on the morning of Jan. 28, and involved two vehicles. As of this writing, no charges have been filed by New York authorities against anyone involved in the crash, and, thankfully, everyone survived the ordeal.

The accident report explains that a vehicle heading east on New York 79 apparently lost control and struck the back end of a garbage truck with enough force to move the parked vehicle three feet. The damage to the vehicle was extensive, and an adult female passenger in the front seat had to be cut out of the wreck, as emergency workers removed pieces of the vehicle to get to her. The crash closed the road for some time.

The woman and the adult driver were airlifted to a local hospital with injuries described as serious but not life-threatening. A 13-year-old was taken by ambulance to another local hospital with less serious injuries. The driver of the garbage truck was not injured, as he was not in his vehicle at the time of the crash. The accident is still under investigation by New York authorities.

If the investigation reveals that the driver of the vehicle was being negligent or reckless in his or her driving when the car accident occurred, criminal charges may be filed. Additionally, depending upon the relationship between the individuals in the car, New York law may allow the injured woman and the family of the injured minor to file personal injury suits against the driver. These suits are civil in nature but still require evidence of negligent behavior on the part of the driver to be considered viable for financial remuneration.
