A man is dead following a serious crash police believe may have been the fault of the driver, according to local sources. New York authorities apparently responded to a car accident on the Bruckner Expressway the morning of Oct. 14. The roadway was closed for a police investigation for most of the morning but was later reopened. The investigation is still underway at this time.
Details of the crash are incomplete as of this report, but it has been confirmed that the vehicle was occupied by a driver and passenger at the time of the crash, which happened near Exit 52. It appears the driver may have been speeding when he or she lost control of the vehicle. The car crashed into the median.
The driver and passenger, both of whom have remained unidentified as of this report, were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries. The driver was later pronounced dead of the injuries suffered in the crash. There has been no word on the condition of the passenger, but that individual was in serious condition at the crash site.
New York police will have more investigating to do before they determine a cause for this car accident, though they already suspect the driver may have been speeding. The seriously injured passenger will likely be able to use evidence that is gathered by the authorities to support a personal injury suit to be filed against the driver’s estate. Such a suit would be brought before a civil court and must be based upon evidence of driver negligence that is deemed to have caused or materially contributed to the crash and injuries that resulted.
