Been Injured? We’re Passionate About Helping Accident Victims

1 dead, 4 hurt following New York car accident in Bronx County

One person is dead and four more have been seriously injured following a car crash in the Bronx on the morning of June 19. New York police responded to the fatal car accident just before 5 a.m. on the corner of Bronxwood Avenue and East 219th. At this point in the investigation, no criminal charges have been filed.

According to the accident report, a vehicle headed eastbound on 219th was struck by another vehicle headed south. The force of the impact sent both vehicles crashing into parked cars and flipped the eastbound car onto its side. The 39-year-old male driver of the eastbound vehicle was pronounced dead after being rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

The driver of the other vehicle and his 29-year-old female passenger were rushed to a local hospital, both in critical condition. Two other individuals, a 16-year-old and a 30-year-old, were also in critical condition and were rushed to the same hospital. As of this report, New York police have yet to determine if criminality played a role in this tragic crash.

It appears possible that either driver could have been responsible for the car accident, depending if one or both drivers was negligent. Depending on a review of the gathered evidence, grounds may exists for wrongful death and/or personal injury claims in civil court. If the deceased driver is deemed to have been at fault, civil claims may be filed against his estate and any separate owner of the vehicle he was operating. If the other driver is deemed culpable, the deceased driver’s estate and the seriously injured passengers will be entitled to pursue claims for financial redress against him.
