Bus Accident: Substantial Settlement For Victims
On April 8, 2010, the law firm of Sobo & Sobo won a settlement for a former Montgomery woman who suffered severe injuries from a bus accident.
Car Accident: Greatly Increases Plaintiff's Award
Sobo & Sobo was recently approached by the victim of a motor vehicle accident whose attorney claimed he "settled" her case for a nominal sum. Sobo & Sobo immediately voided the bogus settlement, and litigated the case winning over 700 percent more than the original attorney's settlement.
Car Accident Settlement
An Orange County jury awarded the victim of a rear-end collision compensation for pain and suffering, for the worsening of a neck condition resulting in surgery. The victim was considering surgery before the collision, but the accident significantly worsened the injury, causing a more serious surgery. Complications during the surgery nearly caused the victim's death. The defendant argued the victim's injury was not worsened by the collision, because the accident caused only slight damage to the victim's car.
Car Accident: Recovery For Back Injury Victim
A South Fallsburg woman was awarded the entire insurance policy as compensation for serious injuries she suffered to her lower back as a result of an August 29, 2002, car accident in the town of Thompson. The accident caused a herniated disc in her lumbar spine. The insurance company refused all settlement offers, claiming that the injuries were caused by arthritis and not the accident. After an arbitration proceeding, the referee determined that the car accident caused the herniated disc.
Fall: Settlement For Worker Who Fell 20 Feet
On August 28, 2013, Sobo & Sobo completed its settlement for a construction worker who fell from a scaffold while working on a construction site. Sobo & Sobo successfully argued that the scaffold lacked required safety devices. The fallen worker suffered severe injuries, including two calcaneus fractures requiring surgery with the insertion of a plate and screws in both heels.
Dog Attack: Settlement For Boy
In May of 2010, the law firm of Sobo & Sobo won a settlement of the insurance company's policy limit for a young boy who suffered serious injuries to his face as a result of a dog attack. The case settled for the full amount in seven months.
Dog Attack: Landmark Settlement Awarded To 5-Year-Old Girl
A 5-year-old Montgomery girl was awarded a landmark settlement as compensation for serious injuries she suffered on June 28, 2003, when her neighbor's dog attacked her. The dog bit the girl in the face, causing permanent scars. The insurance company refused all settlement offers until the day of trial, when the case was settled before jury selection. According to New York Verdict-search, the settlement was the largest for a dog bite to a child in Orange County since 1994.
Drunk Driving: Successful Settlement Against Drunk Driver's Insurance Company
A Middletown woman achieved a successful settlement from a car crash that occurred on October 14, 2005, when the driver of a Jeep swerved off the side of the road and struck a tree. The driver was legally intoxicated and driving without a license. As a result of the crash, the victim fractured her left ankle and needed two surgeries to repair the fracture. The law firm of Sobo & Sobo achieved the successful settlement with the defendant's insurance company after filing a lawsuit in Orange County Supreme Court.
Motorcycle Accident: Successful Award For Victim
On May 29, 2013, Sobo & Sobo wins a successful arbitration award for a Middletown man who suffered fractures to his ankle and cervical spine when a vehicle cut in front of his motorcycle. This despite defendant claims that the accident was the fault of the biker, and that he did not suffer any fractures.
Pedestrian Accident: Victim Receives Settlement
A Middletown woman achieved a successful settlement for an accident that occurred on December 7, 2004, when a car traveling over 45 mph struck her as she was crossing the road. The impact threw her body several feet and caused a fractured wrist and scarring to her face. Sobo & Sobo represented the pedestrian and achieved the settlement by proving that the accident was the fault of the driver.
Premises Liability: Settlement For Brain-Damaged Victims Of Lead Paint
In November 2013, Sobo & Sobo reached a successful settlement for two children who were victims of lead paint poisoning. Sobo & Sobo proved that the landlord was negligent in ignoring the existence of lead paint dangers in the premises, resulting in brain damage to the children.
Products Liability: Settlement For Victim Of Defective Product
On January 10, 2013, Sobo & Sobo completed its successful settlement against a manufacturer of a defective snow blower. Sobo & Sobo successfully argued that the product was negligently designed, causing the tire of the product to explode when inflated. As a result of the incident, the victim suffered serious injuries including multiple fractures to his right foot requiring two surgeries.
Slip-And-Fall Accident Victim Wins Landmark Sidewalk Slip-And-Fall Case
The plaintiff slipped and fell on ice as she left a local tavern early in the morning of January 25, 2001, resulting in a fracture to her right ankle that required two surgeries, with insertion of a plate and eight screws to hold her ankle together. The jury found the tavern 100 percent liable for the injury.
Truck Accident: Settlement For Boy Pinned By Dump Truck
Sobo & Sobo recently achieved a successful settlement for a 2-year-old boy who suffered serious injuries when he was struck and pinned by a dump truck while riding his big wheel. Sobo & Sobo successfully argued that the truck driver was negligent, causing the boy's serious injuries including an intertrochanteric right hip fracture requiring multiple surgeries.
Wrongful Death: Landmark Settlement
On April 1, 2014, the law firm of Sobo & Sobo completed its successful settlement for a construction worker who fell from the roof of a commercial building and died from his injuries. Sobo & Sobo successfully proved that the construction worker was not provided with proper safety devices, resulting in his fall and death.
